In the Autumn of 2020, as part of the lead up to the Centenary of Sue Ryder’s birth in 2024, the Trust launched a Sue Ryder Award, in the form of an Essay Competition for children aged 11-14, when children were asked to learn about Sue Ryder and to become the Sue Ryders of tomorrow.
We were delighted to receive entries from the Sue Ryder School in Poland.
We are pleased to share the entries in the form of poems written by Weronika and Mateusz. English is their second language.
Weronika's poem:
Bounteous, Intelligent, Great
Big heart
Big brain
Big bravery
A little girl with a happy face
Big heart
Big brain
Big bravery
A young woman
Who saw a friend in every man
Big heart
Big brain
Big bravery
An adult who could help the world
Big heart
Big brain
Big bravery
You’re still here
In tiny rosemary
Mateusz's poem:
Lady Sue Ryder
Lady Sue Ryder is our patron
100 hundred years, after her birthday, we celebrate…
Cause her character
Was as much good, as I can’t write here.
She visited prisoners to help them much
And they were very thankful for this…
Cause Lady Sue Ryder was a good person
She’s as much good as I can’t write here.
She helped in hospitals, ill people came healthy
And they were very thankful.
She’s as helpful, as I can’t write here.
