Marking the centenary, the lecture was given by Sir Nick Young, who had worked for Lady Ryder for several years at the outset of his career in the charitable sector, helping to set up Homes in the UK. After a few other roles he then moved on to work for the British Red Cross, then Macmillan Cancer Support and finally as the chief executive of the British Red Cross. Accordingly, it was very fitting that he was able to give our first
Sue Ryder Lecture. He told us about his fascinating years working for Lady Ryder and then his work with the British Red Cross, both in the UK and internationally.
